Plasma

As we get older, our skin starts to lose elasticity and texture, leading to wrinkles and loose skin around the delicate eye area. Plasma skin tightening is a non-surgical eyelift procedure that can tighten your skin, giving you a younger-looking appearance. We use Plasma on a subdermal level to lift, tighten, and rejuvenate skin on the face, neck, and body, giving you natural looking results without the pain and downtime associated with “traditional” surgical procedures.

  • Eyelid reconstruction, including resolving baggy lower eyelids and excess upper eyelid skin
  • Skin imperfections and benign lesions, including skin tags and sunspots
  • Improvement in the appearance of scarring, including post-surgery scars, acne scars
  • Diminishing Stretch marks
  • Tightening loose stomach skin after pregnancy
  • Lines and wrinkles around the mouth, face and other areas of the body
  • Facelift and necklift

The effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. The results can last you years depending on the area treated. The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the best results will be seen after 4 weeks.

You will more than likely see immediate results from the procedure. Sometimes redness and swelling can occur which can distort the results, but you will be able to see special results right away. You will notice more firmness and tightening of the treated areas as the skin continues to heal and produce more collagen (sometimes even 3-6 months down the line!).

The hand-piece produces a tiny plasma flash which leaps from tip to the skin in a micro-millimeter sized point. A series of tiny spots are strategically placed to attain the desired result for the excess skin. The skin around the spot tightens pulling the cells closer together. Its the only non surgical treatment to successfully reduce the excess skin instantly. There is no damage to surrounding areas or deeper skin layers. Patient can resume regular activities right away with minimal discomfort.

Plasma skin tightening is non-surgical treatment with minimal discomfort reported by patients. You will be advised a topical numbing cream to the treatment area prior to procedure. Immediately after the treatment the skin will be reddened and lightly swollen. This will usually last up to 3 days, although slight redness may remain for up to 2-3 weeks. Please note upper eye lids will have swelling for approx 3-4 days so please bear this in mind when planning your treatment. During the procedure carbon crusts will form on the skin directly where the tool was applied. Crusts should not be touched for 5-10 day. To minimize complications you will be informed on proper aftercare following the procedure.

It completely depends on the client and the area treated and the natural rate of recovery. It is normal for sensitive areas such as eyelids to become swollen and we would recommend not applying makeup, which to some people this may mean downtime. Some areas weep slightly after treatment; this is simply plasma and is quite natural. As the spots begin to heal they naturally turn into crusts and flake off.

Immediately after treatment, there may be a burning sensation. This will usually resolve during the remainder of the day although if it is particularly uncomfortable or persists for a longer period, then an anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen can be taken.
Following treatment, it is normal to have some swelling. This can be significant around the eyes and can last for several days and may lead to interference with vision in the initial period. Cold compresses may be applied to reduce the swelling. If the swelling is more severe, an anti-inflammatory medication and/or anti-histamine may help alleviate the swelling.
Crusting will usually develop over the treated area, this will often initially be brown or black on the surface of the skin and flake off over the following days. It is essential to not pick at this crusting as this may lead to infection or scarring. Occasionally the treated area may become a little weepy, this is part of the normal healing process and will improve with time.
It is very important to follow our after care recommendations. Carbon crusts CANNOT be scratched or removed. Drying skin by dabbing with a clean, lint-free cloth is allowed.
Sports, swimming and sauna are not permitted until crusts fall off. SPF 50 must be used on the treated area for a minimum 30 days after treatment.

The treated skin area will be covered with carbon crusts which form during the treatment. They should not be rubbed off therefore it is necessary to avoid any moisturizing creams for 5-10 days. It is recommended you avoid any makeup on the treated area for at least 2 weeks to let the skin breath and heal. In addition, patients need to avoid all direct heat sources such as sun, UV radiation, saunas etc for the period of at least 4 weeks.

Most patients should notice the effect of the procedure right away. However, the healing will continue and the full result should be visible up to 8 weeks. In some cases patients may need more then one treatment. This depends on treatment area and skin condition as well as patients expectations.

Yes, it is. Plasma skin tightening is an innovative state of the art product made in Germany. It is certified by European CE. This means product meets high safety, health and environmental protection requirements. The treatment is already extremely popular across Europe and is taking the UK and North America by storm! It quickly becomes choice for those looking into a non-surgical skin lift.

The number of treatments required will vary according to the condition being treated, skin’s laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individuals response to the treatment. Appointments must be spaced out 6-8 weeks.

Plasma Skin Tightening has been shown to be a safe treatment due to its non-invasive nature. Still the majority of clients are likely to experience some minor side effects in the 7-10 days following treatment.

There will be some tiny brown marks that have the appearance of minor scabbing, which are carbon crusts, but in 5-7 days these will flake away, revealing new pink skin beneath. Some swelling will be seen (especially in cases of eyelid treatment), but it is likely to only last 3-5 days at most. To avoid any more serious side effects such as hyperpigmentation, follow the aftercare recommendations given to you by your technician.

  • Clients should be in good health at the time of the appointment, with no preexisting health conditions. If the client displays signs of cold or flu the treatment should be rescheduled.

(This applies for treatments surrounding the lip area only)

10 Days of Dots

Below is my own experience with plasma over 10 days.

Day 1

Today was my turn to have Plasma Fibroblast done. Can’t wait to see my final results! #plasmafibroblast #softplasma #wrinkles #PlasmaQueen #collagen #eyelift #jawlift

Day 2

Shameless selfie to show off my DOTS! So far so good, slight discomfort like a bit of a graze, lasted 3 hours. Slept well. No pain today. Feels tight and a bit dry but my eyesight is absolutely incredible. #plasmafibroblast #softplasma #wrinkles #PlasmaQueen #collagen #eyelift #dots

Day 3

Day 3 and the swelling has set in. A very important part of this treatment too. Inflammatory response. We do want this to happen as this is the body’s way of healing the controlled wounds that have been inflicted. It floods the area with Plasma and Blood, healing the wound, “feeding” those all important Fibroblasts. I have absolutely no pain and my eyes feel a bit heavy but not sore. Loving the way my mouth does not turn down anymore! #plasmafibroblast #softplasma #wrinkles #PlasmaQueen #collagen #eyelift #lcn #lips #dots

Day 4

Day 4 and all is very well. Swelling has subsided greatly. No discomfort whatsoever. My eyes feel a bit dry. Inflammation seems to have died down completely on my cheeks. Collagen production should be on its way and further tightening will become evident. 8 months of Collagen production to come my way…. #plasmafibroblast #softplasma #wrinkles#PlasmaQueen #eyelift #lcn #lips #jowllifts

Day 5

Day 5 Dots dots dots. Absolutely no discomfort, now waiting patiently for the dots to lift and fall. I have a cold which makes my eyes puffy but I think most of the swelling is gone. I am happy with the changes that are already noticeable. #plasmafibroblast #eyelift #lcn #lips #jowllifts #wrinkles #PlasmaQueen #collagen #Plasma

Day 6

Day 6 and its drizzling dots… Yesterday, during the midday Octanisept disinfect and clean, my dots decided to start staying goodbye. Even though I can see a huge difference already, I am so excited for this process. I do understand that this is really just the very beginning but it is exciting to actually see my eyelids again! #plasmafibroblast #softplasma #wrinkles #PlasmaQueen #collagen #eyelift #lcn #lips #jowllifts #Plasma #frownlines #crowsfeet

Day 7

Maori tattoo, Henna tattoo, Indian wedding, WTF have you done to yourself, Is that dirt, Oh Wow and my best one… You have lost weight… Some of the comments from total strangers and clients that have come my way… Interesting time this. Dots are coming off every time I clean my skin. The difference to my jawline is now becoming more evident to me. #plasmafibroblast #softplasma #wrinkles #PlasmaQueen #collagen #eyelift #lcn #lips #jowllifts #Plasma #frownlines #crowsfeet

Day 8

Day 8 and its raining Dots. The areas of my face that move more has lost most of the dots. They seem to be coming off quite quickly now. I have had many comments and compliments in the difference to my eyes and jawline. So far, I am very excited not to see my Mother looking back at me from my bathroom mirror anymore… ƒÿéƒñú #plasmafibroblast #eyelift #lcn #lips #jowllifts #wrinkles #PlasmaQueen #collagen #Plasma #frownlines #crowsfeet

Day 9

Day 9 My dots are departing steadily, the client treated on the same day has lost all of hers by this morning. Application of my Environ Cquence was welcomed by my skin and RAD spf is on the dot-free areas. My ONLY risk with Plasma is pigmentation which is why sunscreen is NOT negotiable, actually it is never negotiable, Plasma or not! #plasmafibroblast #softplasma #wrinkles #PlasmaQueen #eyelift #lcn #lips #jowllifts #collagen #Plasma #frownlines #crowsfeet #Environ #

Day 10

Day 10 and almost all the dots are gone. I am actually trying to keep them at this stage ƒÿé. Professional Beauty tomorrow and I am sure many would be interested in seeing them. Loving my results, not a person I see hasn’t had positive feedback on my general appearance.

Day 11

Day 11 and my Dots have departed…. I am very happy with my results so far, I know that this is just the beginning with months of Collagen production and skin tightening still to come. The most difficult part of this process was not being able to wash my hair in the shower but luckily I work with a wonderful hairdresser. My skin feels soft, and not sensitive at all. It was loved with Environ ‘s Avance Elixer, Cquence 4 and Creme and most importantly RAD SPF this morning and it feels wonderful.

PLASMA PEN CONTRAINDICATIONS

Please read all Plasma Pen contraindications and risks, and ask your skin technician if you have any concerns about conditions not listed.

This is an autoimmune disease resulting in hair loss. Sufferers may be more sensitive to treatment but there should be no problems treating alopecia sufferers with Plasma Pen.

Anaemia is a condition characterized by a deficiency of the hemoglobin content of red corpuscles. These clients will bleed more profusely and will take longer to heal.

Asthma is characterized by inflammation of the air passages resulting in the temporary narrowing of the airways and making it difficult to breathe. Asthma often requires the use of an inhaler to ease breathing. Regular use of an inhaler will cause thinning of the skin and
increased vascularity. If you have asthma, you may bleed more easily and sometimes bruise. Your skin may be more sensitive and take longer to heal.

These cannot and must not ever be treated with Plasma Pen.

Excess fat and skin are surgically removed from the upper and lower eyelid. If a patient has had blepharoplasty (and our technique is often referred to as non-surgical blepharoplasty), you must wait for 3 months post-blepharoplasty (or longer if there is still pronounced redness in the area) before a Plasma Pen treatment.

It is recommended to wait at least 21 days after BOTOX injections. It is preferable to have your Plasma Pen treatment performed prior to BOTOX being administered or when the BOTOX is just about due for a top up.

The Plasma Pen treatment cannot be performed on breastfeeding mothers.

Please allow three (3) months after your brow, forehead, or facelift to determine your suitability for Plasma Pen treatment.

Bruising or bleeding easily may indicate an underlying health problem, and if you are prone to bruise or bleed easily, you may take longer to heal from your Plasma Pen treatment.

If you are undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy then we must allow leave 5 weeks either side of treatment to be treated with Plasma Pen. If you are undergoing cancer treatment, you should check with your oncologist to find out when your blood count is most suitable to receive treatment. If the cancer is terminal, we may proceed with a doctors written consent.

Celebrity Skin technicians may perform the Plasma Pen treatment with a doctors written consent (if treating the eye area).

  • Contact lenses must be removed before any treatment close to the eye, and must not be used for up to 72 hours post-procedure. We cannot begin to stress the importance of ensuring contact lenses are removed pre-treatment.

Diabetics have a tendency to both bleed and bruise easily, so you may find it more uncomfortable and the healing process may be lengthier. Some clients may need to wait longer between treatments.

During a treatment, we may use more eye lubricant and saline solution throughout the treatment to keep you comfortable.

If it has been two years since your last seizure, we may proceed with the Plasma Pen treatment. Plasma Pen treatment may trigger an epileptic event, and Celebrity Skin will request that you complete a consent form as well as have someone bring with you at your appointment.

If you have recently undergone any laser surgery for the eye, such as LASIK, it is recommended to wait 8-12 weeks post surgery.

If your eyes are red, watering, puffy or the skin is inflamed and red, your Celebrity Skin technician will recommend delaying the Plasma Pen procedure until symptoms have passed.

Hemophilia is contraindicated for Plasma Pen treatment, and not safe for hemophiliac patients.

Herpes Simplex is a viral infection commonly referred to as a cold sore or fever blister usually around the mouth. If you have ever had a cold sore, you are more likely to have an outbreak after Plasma Pen treatment in that area. Celebrity Skin suggests that you ask your physician for an antiviral treatment, such as acyclovir at least 5 days before treatment and 5 days after treatment.

Plasma Pen is not safe for individuals with HIV / AIDS / Hepatitis or other immune disorders.

This is an over-production of melanin which has permanently damaged the surface of the skin. It is more commonly seen in Afro-Caribbean, Mediterranean, Asian and Latin skin types. It presents as darker patches of skin. Unfortunately, Plasma Pen is not appropriate for anyone with hyperpigmentation or having skin types 3-5 on the Fitzpatrick scale.

It is recommended to wait at least 21 days after the filler has been administered before doing a Plasma Pen treatment. It is also common for lips with large amounts of filler or fat in them to have slower or compromised healing. In some cases, the lips can become infected more easily during the healing process after working close to the lip.
We request written consent from a doctor if you have kidney or liver disease.

Due to the inflammation and swelling associated with lupus, the Plasma Pen treatment cannot be safely performed.

If a you require antibiotics when you visit your dentist, then you will need to do the same prior to any Plasma Pen treatment.
Like any cosmetic procedure, the Plasma Pen treatment comes with the risk of complications, including infection. These infections can cause risk to fetal health and even cause the loss of the baby. For these reasons, Celebrity Skin technicians will not perform Plasma Pen treatments on women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Retinal Detachment is where the retina peels away from its underlying layer of support tissue. Initial detachment may be localized but without rapid surgical treatment the entire retina may detach, leading to vision loss and blindness. We ask that if you have experienced retinal conditions, that you obtain a written consent form from your ophthalmic surgeon prior to commencing Plasma Pen treatment in the eye area.

All skin disorders can make the skin exceedingly dry and treatment more uncomfortable because the skin is usually thinner and more sensitive. It is not recommended to treat any areas with Plasma Pen that are affected by any of these skin disorders.

This type of scar is raised instead of being flat and does not grow, and remain within the perimeter of the original wound and flatten over time. When new, they are often purple/pink becoming more pink/white as they mature. Unfortunately, Plasma Pen is not an appropriate treatment for hypertrophic scars.

Please wait 6 months after a shingles outbreak before undergoing a Plasma Pen procedure.

If you suffer from underactive thyroid, you may find that your healing time is slightly longer than typical.

If you are prone to picking, the Plasma Pen treatment may not be appropriate due to the increased risk of infection and hyperpigmentation associated with additional trauma to the skin caused by trichotillomania.

Unfortunately, clients with vitiligo are not good candidates for Plasma Pen due to the risk associated with outbreaks in other areas of the body or face.
